SDG 1: END POVERTY
The United Nations calls this first "Sustainable Development Goal" the most important one. The target is that NOBODY will live in extreme poverty in 2030.
Extreme poverty means that you earn less than 1.90 US$ per day.
It is the job of the government to make sure that no one ends up in extreme poverty, for example, because they are unemployed, have problems with their health, or some sort of disaster, or because a war happened where they live.
Everybody has the right to work, to access technology, to have access to financial services etcetera.
SDG 1 in Curaçao:
Curaçao has started projects to lower poverty and support vulnerable groups. The ‘Curaçao Social Development Agenda’ focuses on people, neighborhoods, and work. Setting up neighborhood ‘houses’ has made it easier for people to get services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which showed how important local help systems are.
